1. Who We Are
Glasgow Suzuki Violin ("we", "us", "our") provides Suzuki method violin tuition services. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information belonging to our students, parents/guardians, and website visitors.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your personal data, you can contact us at:
Email: glasgowsuzukiviolin@gmail.com
2. Our Commitment to Your Privacy
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties for their own marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes.
The only exception is our use of Google and Squarespace to host the lead/enquiry forms on our website (see Section 4 below). These are tools we use to collect enquiries — they are not third parties we share your data with for their own purposes.
3. Information We Collect
Through our website enquiry/lead forms, we may collect:
Your name
Email address
Phone number
Your child's name and age (where relevant to lesson enquiries)
Any details you choose to include in a message or enquiry (e.g. musical experience, availability, preferred lesson times)
We may also collect basic technical information automatically when you visit our website (such as browser type or general location), depending on the platform hosting our site.
4. How Enquiry Forms Work
Our website enquiry forms are built using Google Forms and/or Squarespace's built-in form tools. When you submit an enquiry:
Your submission is collected and stored via Google's or Squarespace's infrastructure (depending on which form you use), as these platforms host and process the data on our behalf.
We access this data solely to respond to your enquiry and, where you proceed, to arrange and manage your lessons.
Google and Squarespace act as our data processors for this purpose only — they do not use your enquiry data for their own marketing or commercial purposes, and we do not permit them to.
We do not pass your enquiry information on to any other individual, company, or organisation.
You can review Google's and Squarespace's own privacy policies for details on how they handle data on their platforms:
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Squarespace Privacy Policy: https://www.squarespace.com/privacy
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide only to:
Respond to your enquiry about lessons
Arrange, schedule, and manage violin tuition
Communicate with you about your (or your child's) lessons
Keep basic records for our teaching practice (e.g. contact details, lesson history)
We do not use your information for any purpose beyond running our teaching service, and we do not send marketing communications unless you've clearly opted in.
6. Legal Basis for Processing
Responding to enquiries and providing lessons: performance of a contract / legitimate interests
Keeping basic student/parent records: legitimate interests
Any marketing communications: consent (only if you opt in)
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep enquiry and student information only for as long as it's needed — typically for the duration of tuition plus a short period afterwards for record-keeping (e.g. [1–2 years]) unless you ask us to delete it sooner, or we're required to keep it longer for legal reasons.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict how we use your data
Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the basis for processing)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [your email address].
You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection authority:
Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) Website: ico.org.uk Helpline: 0303 123 1113
9. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, including relying on the security measures built into Google and Squarespace's platforms for form submissions. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
10. Children's Information
As a violin teaching service, we may hold basic information about students who are minors (e.g. name, age), provided to us by a parent or guardian through an enquiry form. We only use this information to arrange and deliver lessons, and we do not share it with third parties.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices. The latest version will always be posted on our website with an updated date.
