About Me
My name is Peter Colchester, I have been a keen Suzuki violinist since the age of four and have performed in venues from Cadogan Hall to Canterbury Cathedral. I began the violin studying under Suzuki violinists Sharron Beamer and Jillian Ledra. Later studying under Dr. Devorina Gamalova and Dr. Stelios Chatziosifidis in Canterbury. I first began teaching Suzuki students aged sixteen. Offering students help with practices during the holidays. I then went on to doing my Suzuki teacher training after studying music at Canterbury Christ Church University. I have long been a believer in the Suzuki method and believe that Suzuki is just as much about creating a great person as it is about creating a great violinist.
Qualifications

“Peter has been teaching my daughter violin for around 1 year. His encouragement and patience has helped her grow in confidence as she is quite shy. I would recommend Peter to anyone looking for a violin teacher.”
Claire M.

“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.”

-
Yes I am, I would be happy to provide you with my certificate. If you would like it please ask in our additional comments box via our Contact page

Lessons take place at my home on Shettleston Road in the east end of Glasgow.
-
I provide lessons in a one-one or two-one setting if your child has a friend they would like to learn together with.
Additionally I provide an additional group lesson where they would learn alongside other students of varying age and ability.
-
Lesson lengths depend entirely on you and your child. I am always a believer in adapting for the child, sometimes short lessons such as 20 minute lessons work best for a child especially when they are young and sometimes long lessons of 45 minutes to an hour work best, mostly when they are older.
-
I currently have availability on weekdays and weekends
-
This is no problem at all, I will provide you with my phone number once you have signed up for a trial lesson and you can just message me on whatsapp if you have to reschedule for any reason.
